This blog has been a long time coming. It was almost 2 years ago I first entertained the thought of having my own online home. I knew I wanted to make a difference, to help and to do things my way. I just wasn’t sure what my way was. And to be honest, I still don’t know.
It was a beautiful sunny day and I was lying on the grass next to my friend, watching ducks float by on the river. We got talking about what we were going to do with our lives and how we were going to change the world. Next thing: ‘I know, let’s make you a blog.’ And so it was done.
I’m a true believer that if you want to change the world, you must start with yourself.
What kind of people do you want to fill up the world? Be that person.
If you step up and shine in all your authentic you-ness, then others will come out of the shadows to join you. So, in my new commitment to walk my talk, here I am, showing up. Stepping up first. Starting before I’m ready.
There is that part of me that has her fingers crossed hoping no one will ever read this, and I’ll stay safe and sound and nothing will change. Then there is the other part of me that wants to be front and centre shouting my words so everyone can hear whether they want to or not. I figure it’s good to settle somewhere in between the two.
If you feel anything like how I am feeling right now, you don’t feel ready. To do that thing you’ve always wanted to do.
Take that class. Book that trip. Apply for that job. Start that blog…
Well, here’s the good news. You’re never going to feel ready! How is that good you ask? Because, now you don’t have to put it off any longer. You either do it, or you let it go and move on.
Easier said than done I know and sometimes we think we are happy to let something go, but the universe has other ideas. If something is meant to happen, it has a way of coming back. Big time.
At the start of this year, I finally deleted my list of blogging topic ideas that I had been working on for the past 18months. I gave up on my dream and pushed it to the background.
Within 3 weeks I had a blog.
So here I am, and here you are too and I would love it if you would join me as I share my adventures and together we can try to make sense of this crazy world we call home.
